Description:The course introduces the student to the golf industry by covering an overview of the history and development of the game of golf including course layout and design. Additionally, students will study the official United States Golf Association rules as well as to learn and become familiar with the PGA certification process.

Course Objectives

After completing this course, students will be able to: • Recall the rules of golf and apply them in situations commonly encountered • Identify important historical events influencing the traditions of the game • Identify important players/ architects/others and describe their contributions to golf • Apply basic theory in the design of a golf hole • Appraise the game of golf by the criteria: honor, integrity and tradition.
