Course Objectives

1. Demonstrate a command of the basic vocabulary, different perspectives, and history of the discipline. 2. Demonstrate an understanding of the major theoretical approaches to the study of personality including psychoanalytic, behavioral, social learning, cognitive, humanistic, and trait theories. 3. Compare and contrast major theoretical models in the study of personality. 4. Critically evaluate and recognize the implications of research in personality theory, and apply conclusions of research to further explain personality. 5. Apply knowledge and skills gained in this course to his/her own life and personal relationships, as well as to material covered in other courses.
