Name:Preparation for Field Experience
Description:This introductory field experience to teaching is offered to guide students through the process of constructing the framework for their professional portfolio. Students will be given guidelines for completing a professional portfolio, shown examples of portfolio materials, and provided with opportunities to gather and write portfolio documents. During this pass/fail course, students will also join SEAM (Student Education Association of Maine) and encouraged to attend meetings, professional functions, and network with elementary education majors from other Maine colleges. Successful completion of this education experience is one of the requirements for continuing in the education program.

Course Objectives

Define components of a portfolio and discuss how portfolios are used by teachers.
Develop a framework for their portfolio and exhibit assignments written that relate to their knowledge and skills
Use various Microsoft tools to create and enhance their portfolio
Take part in class work via Black Board as a way of developing skills in this online tool as well as sharing with their peers.
