Course Objectives

Discuss foundations of police in America.
Discuss the investigative process from a uniformed patrol and a criminal investigation division point of view.
Discuss the reasons why and how police agencies should attempt to make line officers part of the management process.
Describe the task of police personnel management.
Discuss the reasons why the division of whom to hire and the use of probationary periods are so important to police administrators.
Explain the aspects of entrance standards and why they are necessary.
Describe the screening and selection process.
"Explain the aspects of entry-level training, off-duty training and external training."
"Describe the process of position classification and assignment, career development, and performance evaluation issues."
