The course covers the financial planning process and strategies for successful financial well being. Topics covered include money management; consumer credit; real estate as an investment; insurance and risk management; investment in stocks, bonds, and mutual funds; retirement and pension planning; and estate planning.

Course Objectives

Upon completion, students will be able to: • Keep financial records • Plan spending for major purchases • Conduct simple tax planning • Develop an understanding of consumer credit • Recognize different kinds of insurance • Choose rational investment strategies in stock, bond, mutual fund, annuity and other financial markets
